Publicity can be useful for your group. News of your successes or activities can let people know what you are doing, help with fundraising, and boost other campaigns. It can help draw attention to your concerns.
Local newspapers are competing with the digital world and there has been a decline in the number of printed papers, but while local press exists there is a place for your press releases.
Providing local press with a well-written story (with pictures if you have them) with a clear message that you want to share can be beneficial. Find out more about how to write a good press release.
If you have a short message, consider whether it’s appropriate to submit it to the letter’s editor, for publication in the letters section.
Make use of local radio stations. BBC Radio Cambridgeshire and Cambridge Radio are often keen to hear from local charities and groups and are very welcoming.
