It is described as
The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) helps employers make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children. It replaces the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA).
DBS is an executive non-departmental public body of the Home Office and more information about Disclosure & Barring service can be found on the Home Office website.
DBS now have regional officers who can respond to specific queries and run training.

Do we need DBS checks?
The DBS has produced eligibility guidance that tells you if you need to apply for a test.
On top of this, there is the new continual updating service and this means that organisations will no longer be sent a certificate so they will need to ensure that they ask staff and volunteers to show them certificates and also to update their information.
Where can I get DBS checks?
Registered Umbrella Bodies for DBS Checks
