Becoming a Support Cambridgeshire Trustee – what’s in it for you?
Becoming a Support Cambridgeshire Trustee – what’s in it for you?
Becoming a Trustee could transform your life.
Trusteeship allows you to support and be involved with causes you care about. It’s a chance to put your skills and knowledge to good use, at the same time as developing expertise in areas that may be new to you. It can help with career development. What better way to gain experience and increase self-confidence and enhance your sense of wellbeing at the same time.
I joined the board eight years ago to give back to the organisation that had been a lifeline for me when I was a local charity CEO.
The most fulfilling part of being a trustee at Support Cambridgeshire is seeing our ‘multiplier effect’ in action: we bring together the VCSE sector, local businesses, and government to build a stronger, more connected ecosystem.
It is a privilege to be part of a board that works to lift up every wonderful group that makes our county thrive. Flóra Raffai – Co-Chair
Why Support Cambridgeshire?
We don’t just support one charity, we support multiple charities, voluntary groups and organisations across the whole of Cambridgeshire. We’re enablers – we enable and empower groups to be able to carry out their work supporting their local community themselves. We provide training, resources and tailored help. We champion the work of the voluntary sector, being a voice at major committees and partnerships that meet to determine public policy and action right across Cambridgeshire.
Being a Trustee at Support Cambridgeshire allows you to have wide reaching impact. As part of a team you will underpin what we do.
You don’t have to be an expert
If you’ve never been a Trustee before, we still want to hear from you. Life experience is valuable. Your skills are valid. You will know more than you think.
As long as you have a passion for helping your community, and are willing to learn, we want to hear from you. Your instinct will stand you in good stead.
What do you see when you imagine a Trustee Board?
We see a group of supportive people, passionate about making meaningful change. We see a group of people ranging in ages, backgrounds, and experiences working together for the good of their community.
We see change. We see positive action. We see you.
What are we looking for?
For this recruitment drive, we are looking for anyone who:
- Works or volunteers for a community group, who is also a member of Support Cambridgeshire.
- Enthusiastic about what Support Cambridgeshire does and have a keen interest in developing the Cambridgeshire voluntary and community sector.
- You need to be able to attend our in-person meetings (Maple centre, Huntingdonshire & Byron House, Cambridge ) and online (Zoom) – which happen Quarterly.
We welcome individuals who see this as a career development opportunity and will support those who need support to understand the role and responsibilities of a trustee, along with understanding financial and strategic documents.
We are always keen for our board to represent our communities, so should there be any barriers please do get in contact so these can be discussed.
