Phoenix Youth Provision is a Community Interest Company that aims to provide a vibrant and engaging community space that caters to the needs of young people in the local area.
Located in the heart of Whittlesey in Fenland, it provides a safe and welcoming environment for young people to socialise, learn new skills, and have fun.
The clubs are open to young people between the ages of 10 and 18, regardless of background or ability. A wide range of activities and programs is offered and designed to appeal to a diverse range of interests.
By providing a safe and supportive space where young people can socialise, learn, and grow, the group is helping to create a brighter future for the community.
There is currently a group for young people with additional needs, a group for young carers and home-educated young people, an open access group, and mentoring, as well as detached and pop up sessions. A group for LGBT+ young people is being developed, as well as a youth café.
The team of experienced staff and volunteers work hard to create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels valued and respected.
In addition to the regular activities, special events and outings are also organised throughout the year and opportunities to get involved with the local community.
At our youth club, we believe that every young person deserves a chance to reach their full potential.
Aims of the group
- To build youth provision in Whittlesey and the surrounding villages
- To support young people to increase their self-esteem and self-confidence
- To develop young people’s ability to manage their personal and social relationships
- To create informal learning opportunities for young people to develop new skills, attitudes and knowledge
- To support young people with their mental health and emotional well being
- To encourage a positive group atmosphere and community cohesion
- To build the capacity of young people to consider risks, make reasoned decisions and take control
- To help young people to develop a ‘world view’ which widens their horizons and invites social commitment.
Highlights
We have had some amazing moments and events, that have made us very proud, and feel lucky to be part of PYP, such as receiving the Pride of Fenland award, being on local radio, meeting awesome people, learning new skills, making new friends and mainly just having fun!
We are working towards the Rainbow Flag Award and were delighted to attend Fenland’s first ever Pride Event.
The group have been very grateful to receive funding and support from lots of local donors and companies, including the Big Lottery Community Fund, Clarion Futures, the Mayors Charity, EPD, Cambridgeshire County Council, Future Scooters, Co-op, the Office of Police and Crime Commissioner, CCVS, Whittlesey Athletics Football Club, Fenland District Council, Living Sports, Whittlesey Community Pantry, Froglife, and many other very kind and important people!
Jayden Sharman
Our most awesome event ever was meeting world champ, Jayden Sharman at an event jointly organised with Generate and Community Services Fenland, where local young scooter fanatics could meet their hero, and learn new tricks, have fun and engage in positive activities!
Check out the video below of the event, to see how much fun was had by all.
