Support Fenland brings community together at Whittlesey Volunteer Fair

Volunteer Cambs were also present on the day, with Rima arranging one-to-one conversations with residents interested in volunteering, helping match people with opportunities that suit their interests, skills and availability.

The atmosphere throughout the event was lively and welcoming, with many attendees leaving with leaflets, new contacts and ideas about where they might volunteer in the future.

Sarah Hall said:

What a great fair! The room was buzzing with local organisations talking to members of the public who had popped in to see what volunteer roles were available. Everyone came away with a handful of leaflets and were considering where they were going to give their time. In total, 160 conversations were held, and several volunteers completed registration forms on the day.

Across Fenland there is a strong culture of community spirit, with local organisations relying on volunteers to deliver vital services, activities and support. Bringing groups and residents together in one place helps highlight the wide range of opportunities available locally, from supporting community groups and charities to helping at events or contributing specialist skills.
