My work experience week, by student Ryan. July 2024.
Published on: April 17, 2025
Hello, everyone. My name is Ryan, and I am a Year 10 student at the Netherhall School.
Growing up in Hong Kong, I liked to volunteer during fundraising events for charities. I have chosen to work with CCVS for my week-long work experience this year because I wanted to know more about what a charity looks like from the inside and how everything worked.
Some things that I have done this week are:
- Learning about the different roles within the voluntary sector.
- Shadowing meetings and finding out many ways a charity can help people in need.
- Using Canva to create feedback quotes and posters.
Some new things that I have found out about charities and CCVS during this week are:
- All charities have trustees who “oversee” what they do to help people and funding.
- There are many opportunities in the voluntary sector to help others and a variety of skills are welcomed.
- CCVS supports many charities and organisations to encourage and help people to volunteer.
Lastly, I had a good time during this week and learnt many things about the voluntary sector that I might not have necessarily known before. It has given me a wider range of opportunities in the future.
