Shining light on March & District Model Railway Club
March & District Model Railway Club
Established in 2003, the March and District Model Railway Club is a voluntary-run organisation with the aims of promoting an environment where people living locally can meet other like-minded persons to share and foster interest in model railways, railways and allied pursuits, and in particular socially interact, learning new skills, improving knowledge of the hobby, with support being encouraged amongst the members of the Club.
In addition to providing facilities for building layouts, the Club also hosts demonstrations by members and guest contributors, showcasing techniques and ideas for constructing model railway layouts.
What they offer
The Club promotes or facilitates educational meetings on both model railways, the history of railways and how they work as transport systems.
The Club organises social and educational visits for members to other organisations, preserved railways, museums and other places of interest to the members.
The Club holds exhibitions and open days to encourage and foster an interest in model railways.
They have recently held an open day at their hall and the church next door, which was a huge success with over 200 visitors on the day, showcasing multiple layouts and traders. They are currently organising a full exhibition on the 21st February 2026 at the GER Sports & Social Club, Robingoodfellows Lane, March, Cambridgeshire PE15 8HS.
The club meets at St. Mary’s Church Parish Hall, Wisbech Road, Westry, March between 7pm and 10pm every Wednesday. The hall has excellent facilities with a ground floor and a fully fitted kitchen and disabled toilet. They welcome visitors who may wish to join our club. Feel free to pop in.
