Management team
All management teams need to be responsible for the strategy and governance of an organisation this covers the policies and procedures. These individuals are referred to as trustees or board members, depending on your charitable structure.
Top tips and things to remember
- The most important document to your organisation is your governing document, which states to your board/committee how the organisation will be run.
- Boards/Committees should be made up of a range of individuals, not related or close friends, but those with the passion and skills to drive your organisation’s strategy.
- Your membership must agree upon any changes to your governing document if your structure has one. You may also need to go through the Charity Commission if you’re a registered charity.
- A good practice is that a trustee shouldn’t sit for longer than two terms which ideally would be no longer than six years – however, this should be covered by your governing document.
