Supervision Skills for Volunteer Managers

A supervision workshop to help you refresh how you keep your volunteers engaged and help them carry out their roles safely, effectively, and satisfyingly. An in person, interactive session.
Who is it for?
For anyone who manages volunteers and others and wants to ensure the needs and interests of the group and individual are being met
What is it about?
Supervision is a key tool in keeping volunteers engaged by ensuring they can carry out their roles safely, effectively, and satisfyingly. This session will let you explore different ways to do this and build on your skills and confidence.
What will I learn?
By the end of the session you’ll have a better understanding of:
- setting up or reviewing a system of supervision
- recognising the importance of clear role descriptions and volunteer agreements
- exploring how different people respond to supervision
You will also have the chance to practice your own supervision skills.
You will learn:
- different approaches to supervision
- impact of monitoring and evaluation
- motivational characteristics and the impact on supervision
- supervision skills including practicing active listening, assertiveness and how to give and receive feedback.
What to expect:
The session is divided into classroom learning and discussion together with group work with the option of role play using case studies.
