Introduction to strategy and business planning
This training is an introduction for trustees and others with responsibility for developing strategies, conveying impact and writing business plans.
Charities need strategies to help them identify what they need to do to achieve their long term objectives and engage their supporters, beneficiaries, funders and the public in their journey. Charities also need business plans to map their route to achieving shorter term goals and help us demonstrate that we are accountable, transparent and sustainable. Demonstrating how we can plan for the long and short term is key in preparing for funding applications, charity registration and developing effective collaborations.
Part 1: Key terms & useful planning tools – getting your head around the basics – looks at key terminology and how to develop planning tools including an introduction to developing a Theory of Change that can help you prepare your strategy.
Part 2: Creating a business plan – getting your ideas down on paper – looks at how you develop and design your plan. In addition to the slides we will provide you with a business plan template you can use to get started.
