Who is it for?

The session is suitable for employed staff or trustees who are managing the finances of a charity or social enterprise with an income up to £1m.

What is it about?

Budgeting for sustainability in small social purpose organisations can be challenging. Our business models and the operating environment often makes this difficult. However, there are things we can do to help us build our financial sustainability.

In this session we will revisit good budgeting principles, explore ways to build sustainability and talk together about the very real challenge of having to do more with less.

It will look at:

• Understand the benefits of budgeting

• Know how to prepare a simple multi project organisational budget

• Understand how budgeting can contribute to sustainability

• Understand the limitations of full cost recovery and budgeting when building sustainability

What you can expect:

• Some slides and Q and A

• A template

• Group discussion

• Please come prepared to share and learn together

The trainer will be Liz Pepler, Director at Embrace Finance who are experts in mentoring smaller charities in building understanding and financial sustainability.
