New Family Learning Grant Announced

Cambridgeshire Skills have launched their Family Learning Grant scheme which are available to fund free local activities for all generations. Activities should be designed to be fun, informal and promote a culture of learning as a family. They will bring children, mums, dads, aunts, uncles, grandparents and their family friends together to try something new and learn with and from each other.

The purpose of the grant-funded activities is to develop the skills, confidence, motivation and resilience of families of different ages and backgrounds in order to:

  • progress towards formal learning or employment and/or
  • improve their health and well-being, including mental health and/or
  • develop stronger communities

They are funded through the AEB Community Learning grant.

Cambridgeshire Skills can award grants to local partner organisations, schools, charities and voluntary and community groups to enable them to host their own family learning activities, engaging their local community and to promote further learning, volunteering or employment opportunities. Activities should be a minimum of 3 hours in total.

Total funding available in 2021 is £20,000 for engagement with at least 200 Adults.  Therefore, there is £100 available for each adult engaged in activities. Each adult claimed needs to have resided in the EEA for a minimum of 3 years and completed a Cambridgeshire Skills Enrolment Form.

How to apply for a grant

Organisations will complete a grant application form detailing their activity and purpose.   They will request the amount of the funding up to the full amount available along with the number of adults they anticipate engaging in activities.  A panel, consisting of members of the wider senior leadership team will meet to review all of the applications and agree which ones we should fund this academic year.

If grant application is successful, we will require organisations to complete the following paperwork as evidence from their activity and return these to us to receive the grant payment:

  • Enrolment forms (supplied by Cambridgeshire Skills) need to be completed by each adult attending the activities.
  • Collect feedback, wider impact, destination and progression information from the families (templates to be supplied)
  • Capture images of the activities (with learners’ permission)
  • Evaluation form for organisations (template to be supplied)
  • Any marketing you carry out will need the 3 logos on the bottom of this form clearly displayed.

A member of Cambridgeshire Skills will attend the activity to promote further learning opportunities in the area.
